Whether doused in the grit of his hometown Glasgow, or expanded by the widescreen vistas of his current base, Barcelona, the music of Darren Roberts has asserted it´s uniqueness within his preferred form of expression, rolling and tunneling techno, strong on propulsion and atmosphere. Naming the project Deepbass was a strong statement of intent and commitment to a sound of his own, from the start. That he has in fact established it and remains on a path of constant perfection of it, is indicative of Darren´s personality and talent.

On the other hand, he touches those knobs a lot, with no use. I saw that to other DJs, too. It's kinda secret understanding that they have to show that the're working really. When I'm mixing, I don't need to touch all the time so many tricks on the table, the music plays for itself.... After sync, there is only play and some fade, bass reduction etc. But not all time time!
he's just microtweaking, it's not really NEEDED but if you're really into how stuff sounds maybe it's an impulse
On the other hand, if you move that knobs and faders you might get more gigs. On the other hand you just can stick in your bedroom.
When I play, I want to stay in control of 1-4 tunes at the same time tweaking all highs, mids and lows all the time to keep the mix pumping and breathing + add your own flow to the movement. Add browsing and loading songs on decks, checking keys match, adding some effects, taking care of fade-ins, fade-outs, switches, there's no time to be standing around admiring the music.
